Description
Mark 12:38-44
It’s not about the amount or the percentage actually it’s not about dollars at all. Jesus calls us to live lives devoted to Him while we love the people around us. In Jesus’ day the religious leaders had lost sight of that and were living as elite members of society. Today we are reminded that in Christ we are all equal and called to worship God with all we have.

Time of Greeting
Time of Confession and Forgiveness
[Alternate location: following Message]
Pastor Now gathered in the name of the Lord, let us pause and remember His mercy promised to us. We are people who have strayed from our Lord but by His grace have been gathered in His presence.
Silence for reflection and personal confession
Pastor Holy Lord,
ALL We have done wrong in what we have done, what we have not done, and by what we have said. By our sin we have harmed ourselves and one another while pulling ourselves away from You. Care for us Lord. Forgive our sins and draw us to Yourself. We trust in Your promises and rely on Your love and grace.
Pastor By the love of God Jesus Christ was given in place of You so that you would never suffer the consequences of your sin. Rejoice knowing that Jesus will never forsake you. Your sins are forgiven in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
ALL Amen! God is good!

First Reading 1 Kings 17:8–16
In the midst of the drought, the Lord provides for Elijah through the faithfulness and kindness of a woman. When resources are sure to run out, the Lord continues to provide.
8Then the word of the Lord came to him, 9“Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to feed you.” 10So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, “Bring me a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.” 11And as she was going to bring it, he called to her and said, “Bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.” 12And she said, “As the Lord your God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. And now I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it and die.” 13And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said. But first make me a little cake of it and bring it to me, and afterward make something for yourself and your son. 14For thus says the Lord the God of Israel, ‘The jar of flour shall not be spent, and the jug of oil shall not be empty, until the day that the Lord sends rain upon the earth.’” 15And she went and did as Elijah said. And she and he and her household ate for many days. 16The jar of flour was not spent, neither did the jug of oil become empty, according to the word of the Lord that he spoke by Elijah.
Reader This is the Word of the Lord.
ALL Thanks be to God.
