Description
Mark 6:30-44
Jesus and His disciples withdrew to a desolate place. Moved with compassion, Jesus miraculously fed a multitude with only five loaves and two fish. This demonstration of power proved that Christ was and is the abundant provider, and we can trust God’s provision to meet our needs beyond measure. We can also learn that what we have to offer, no matter how minute, can be used for the glory of God and blessings to others.

Time of Confession and Forgiveness
[Alternate location: following Message]
Pastor / Worship Leader
Just for a moment, let’s pause and reflect on the grace and provision offered to us by our Lord Jesus Christ.
Worshipers
Lord Jesus, Abundant Provider, we confess that we have doubted Your provision and sought after worldly comforts to satisfy us. We confess that we have failed to recognize Your abundant blessings in our lives and have been slow to share generosity with others. Forgive us, Lord, for our lack of faith and gratitude. Help us to trust in Your provision and to share Your abundance with others, reflecting Your love and generosity in all that we do.
Pastor / Worship Leader
Hear the good news! In Christ, we are forgiven! His grace is more than sufficient to cover our sins and His love knows no bounds.
Worshipers
Thanks be to God for His abundant mercy and forgiveness! May His love and provision inspire us to live lives of gratitude and generosity. In the name of Jesus, amen.
We Hear God’s Word
[Read aloud both the introduction and Scripture]
First Reading Jeremiah 23:1-6
Jeremiah condemned the leaders of Israel for their negligence in shepherding God’s people. He promised that God would raise up a righteous branch from the line of David to reign as king.
“Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pasture!” declares the Lord. 2 Therefore this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to the shepherds who tend my people: “Because you have scattered my flock and driven them away and have not bestowed care on them, I will bestow punishment on you for the evil you have done,” declares the Lord. 3 “I myself will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them and will bring them back to their pasture, where they will be fruitful and increase in number. 4 I will place shepherds over them who will tend them, and they will no longer be afraid or terrified, nor will any be missing,” declares the Lord. 5 “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land. 6 In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior.
