The Ten Commandments – Six Week Series

$30.99

AN INTRODUCTION TO THIS SERIES

The following is a six weeks series based on the Ten Commandments.  The first three Sundays are the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Commandments, respectively. The fourth is a combination of the 4th and 6th Commandments, using the theme, “In the Circle of Each Home” – A Celebration of Marriage and Families. The fifth is the 5th, 7th, and 8th Commandments, using the theme,

“Thou Shalt NOT”-We Need Rules to Live By. And the sixth in the series deals with the 9th and 10th Commandment (incorporating the conclusion), with the sermon title being, “Gotta Have It”.

We separated the 9th & 10th Commandments from 5,7 and 8 because of our world today and its constant drive to “gotta have it” and “gotta have it now, at all costs.”

Each week the Catechism is used, saying the Commandment along with its meaning.  The version used was from “This Is the Christian Faith”, Concordia Publishing.  Encourage your people to “dig out” their catechisms and bring them. It would be fun to compare old notes scribbled from years ago; and let the younger folks see the “changes” in the language of the “blue” catechism compared to their newer versions!  Encourage also, your Sunday School to follow along the series by learning the Commandments.  If you have an adult Bible class, they, too could pick up on this and have more in-depth study during that education hour.
