Description

Luke 1:39-45 (46-56)

When Mary, the mother of Jesus, greeted Elizabeth, the baby in her womb leapt and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. Elizabeth blessed Mary and Mary glorified the Lord with song. She rejoiced with singing, proclaiming God’s goodness, mercy, and blessings. In this Advent season, how will you respond to the Lord?

Invocation

Pastor / Worship Leader

Welcome to the young, welcome to the more seasoned, welcome to the pillars of faith, and welcome to the babes. We welcome you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ who is faithful in fulfilling His promises.

Worshipers

He is faithful to the end of the age! He is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Opening Prayer / Theme Introduction

Pastor / Worship Leader

Holy Father, we don’t take it for granted that You are here with us.

Worshipers

You are the Lord God Almighty- no one is like you.

Pastor / Worship Leader

In submissive obedience, we bow low before You, O King Jesus. You are great and good, yet you humbly entered this fallen world as a babe.

Worshipers

With gratitude and praise we say, “Hosanna!” for our King who came is coming again one day!

Pastor / Worship Leader

We are amazed by Your love for us. You fill us with joy! We pray in the name of Jesus Christ,

Worshipers

  Amen.

Time of Confession and Forgiveness

[Alternate location:  following Message]

Pastor / Worship Leader

   Romans 5:19 reads,

Worshipers

“For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.”

Pastor / Worship Leader

Like Adam and Eve, we have disobeyed, given into temptation, and are sinners. But Jesus, sweet Jesus, came obediently into the world and through His sacrifice, has made us righteous in the eyes of God.

Worshipers

It is through Jesus we are forgiven, set free, and redeemed!

Pastor / Worship Leader

  In Christ alone, Amen.

…  We Hear God’s Word  …

[Read aloud both the introduction and Scripture]

First Reading                                  Micah 5:2-5a

From the smallest clan of Judah, the Messiah would come. He would be the greatest ruler of all time.

2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.” Therefore Israel will be abandoned until the time when she who is in labor bears a son, and the rest of his brothers return to join the Israelites. He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth. And he will be our peace when the Assyrians invade our land and march through our fortresses.
