Description
Luke 9:28-36
Peter, John, and James accompanied Jesus up on the mountain to pray and witnessed a glorious sight as Jesus was transfigured before their very eyes. Appearing next to Jesus was Moses and Elijah. Naturally, Peter asked to build shelters for the three men, but soon only Jesus stood before them. As we remember this glimpse of glory, let us look forward to the coming glory when Christ returns and we reign with Him in Heaven!

Opening Prayer / Theme Introduction
Pastor/Worship Leader speaks
Pastor Lord our God, you spoke to the Israelites from a pillar of cloud. You were to Israel the
God who forgives. You gave the Ten Commandments to Moses and his face was radiant
like the sun after being in Your presence, so he covered his face with a veil. But through
Your Son you removed the veil so that we could radiantly shine Your light. Today, we
rejoice without barriers, we worship You, our King, freely, and we praise the God who
forgives us!
ALL Praise be to the Lord Almighty, amen!
Time of Confession and Forgiveness
[Alternate location: following Message]
Pastor The Lord has set before us commands, statues, and decrees to help us live in
accordance to His will, His plan, and for His good.
ALL But we break His commands and disobey. We advance for ourselves leaving
others behind to suffer at the expense of our desires, our will, our plans. We need
Your forgiveness, Lord.
Pastor Jesus Christ bore our sin on the cross at Calvary. He shed his blood for the forgiveness
of our sins, and we desperately need cleansed.
ALL We ask for Your help in right living. We seek Your face and desire to know You
more. Show us Your glory!
Pastor Yes, show us Your glory and thank you for cleansing us in the blood of Your Son, Jesus
Christ.
ALL We are forgiven! Amen.

First Reading Deuteronomy 34:1-12
Moses died on Mount Nebo and the Lord Himself buried Moses. Joshua was filled with the spirit of wisdom and led the Israelites after Moses’ death.
Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab to the top of Pisgah, across from Jericho. There the Lord showed him the whole land—from Gilead to Dan, 2 all of Naphtali, the territory of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Mediterranean Sea, 3 the Negev and the whole region from the Valley of Jericho, the City of Palms, as far as Zoar. 4 Then the Lord said to him, “This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob when I said, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross over into it.” 5 And Moses the servant of the Lord died there in Moab, as the Lord had said. 6 He buried him in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth Peor, but to this day no one knows where his grave is. 7 Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone. 8 The Israelites grieved for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days, until the time of weeping and mourning was over. 9 Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit[b] of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him and did what the Lord had commanded Moses. 10 Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, 11 who did all those signs and wonders the Lord sent him to do in Egypt—to Pharaoh and to all his officials and to his whole land. 12 For no one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.
