“Organic” is a big buzzword these days. It seems everyone is talking about food with no artificial additives or fillers. More and more labels are claiming their product as 100% pure and organic. Could Christianity make the same claim? This 5-week series looks at some basic elements of our faith as recorded in the Gospel of Mark. See for yourself if Christianity’s message has changed, or if we’re still proclaiming the genuine message of Christ.
This Week’s Theme: “Complete Trust” Mark 6:1-13
Jesus decided the time had come to take off the spiritual training wheels and send the disciples out to minister without Him. This required complete trust on everyone’s part. The disciples trusted Jesus knew what He was doing! Jesus trusted that the disciples could handle the task. The disciples trusted in God’s provision. What can we learn from these examples of trust?

Invocation and Introduction of Today’s Theme
Pastor May the Lord our God, who is always more ready to give His good gifts to us than we are to seek them, and Who is more willing to give more than we desire or deserve: help us to seek Him that we may truly find Him. As we enter into worship today, in Your Name [Father, Son and Holy Spirit], we pray that we may joyfully worship with renewed trust in our Most Faithful Father, and may to all who knock – that the door of His grace and mercy, be opened for us; because of Jesus Christ our Lord.
ALL With our complete trust in Him, may it be so!
Prayer Opening
Pastor Powerful God, as we trust You completely, multiply the gifts we need, so that our faith community [church] is empowered to minister to the needs of Your children. In today’s Gospel reading, You remind us to minister to our family, friends, and one another with a trust that comes only from knowing You. We are secure in knowing that by serving our brothers and sisters, both locally and globally, we serve You faithfully. Accept these simple gifts of service, in Jesus’ Name.

Women If we have been so busy that we don’t notice the needs of others, or have resented those who do take time to be kind and generous, or have disgraced our incomplete faith by becoming self-absorbed:
All Forgive us, loving God, and save us from ourselves.
Men If we have been too proud to undertake humble tasks, or too impatient to do tasks that have no immediate reward, or with weak faith, been too stubborn to seek the help of others.

All If we have magnified small wrongs done to us, or have allowed tiny difficulties to frustrate us, creating distrust, or have been thick-skinned, inflexible or unteachable.

My fellow pilgrims on Christ’s journey of faith, take heart. God does not have to be persuaded to forgive us; it is more likely our pride that holds us back from accepting forgiveness. Please, for Christ’s sake, with complete trust in Him, let down your guard, open you mind and hearepent and accept the Gospel of free grace. It is for you.

We Hear God’s Word

First Reading: Ezekiel 2:1-5
The prophet Ezekiel hears these words after seeing a vision of God, which causes him to fall on his face in complete worship.
He said to me, “Son of man, stand up on your feet and I will speak to you.” 2 As he spoke, the Spirit came into me and raised me to my feet, and I heard him speaking to me. 3 He said: “Son of man, I am sending you to the Israelites, to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against me; they and their ancestors have been in revolt against me to this very day. 4 The people to whom I am sending you are obstinate and stubborn. Say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says.’ 5 And whether they listen or fail to listen —for they are a rebellious people —they will know that a prophet has been among them.
