Description
Isaiah 6:1-8
Isaiah sees something that forever changes him. In a vision, Isaiah gazes upon the LORD, Himself, seated on His throne. Immediately, Isaiah cries out, for he knows that he is standing in the presence of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Like other times in Scripture, when we are next to God, His holiness shines brightly on our sinfulness and we cry out in desperation for His mercy. There are others who need to hear and experience the grace and love of God. God boldly asks who will go and share that with the world. And this time, Isaiah cries out, “Send me!”

Invocation and Introduction of Today’s Theme
Pastor Lord, we begin this service in humble adoration of You, the triune God.
ALL Come Father, come Son, come Holy Spirit.
Pastor You have created us to delight in Your presence. You have redeemed us from our own sinful selves. And You continue to work within us to make disciples of all nations.
ALL Come Father, come Son, come Holy Spirit.
Pastor We worship you in Trinity, and Trinity in unity, the glory equal, the majesty coeternal.
ALL Come Father, come Son, come Holy Spirit.
Pastor You have called us to spread the message of the one true God. May we be like the prophet Isaiah and cry out, “Here I am. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8b).
ALL Come Father, come Son, come Holy Spirit.
Opening Prayer
Pastor Almighty Father, You have called us to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19). We give You praise that You have equipped us with the power to carry out Your call. We delight in the splendor and majesty of the Your creation. We are humbled by the Son’s redeeming sacrifice on the cross. We are made confident by the presence of the Holy Spirit working within us. We worship You as the one true Godhead, and we cry out this day to boldly be selected to share this truth to the world. We ask this in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and Holy Spirit as one eternal God.
ALL AMEN!
Time of Greeting
Time of Confession and Forgiveness
[Alternate location: following Message]
Pastor Lord, we confess that we have not lived boldly in Your Word as you have called us to do.
ALL Lord, have mercy on us.
Pastor We have acted like Peter before the crucifixion, and our sins have reflected an outward denial of the relationship that we have with You to others.
ALL Lord, have mercy on us.
Pastor We carry this heavy burden that our sin has caused, by what we have done and what we have left undone.
ALL Lord, have mercy on us.
Pastor We now take a moment of lay this burden at Your feet and cry out for mercy, even as we don’t deserve it.
(pause for silent reflection)
Pastor This is what the LORD says, “I will cleanse them from all the sin they have committed against me and will forgive all their sins of rebellion against me” (Jeremiah 33:8). Upon your confession, I as an ordained servant of the Word announce that the blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has redeemed you, and that your sins are forgiven. Let us give praise to the LORD for His mercy and grace!
ALL Thanks be to God! Hallelujah!

First Reading Isaiah 6:1-8
Not many have gone into the presence of the Lord as Isaiah has. We are privileged to see God through Isaiah’s eyes. What a glorious and yet frightening sight. Isaiah sees the Lord but also sees his own sinfulness. Yet in spite of his sin, God still calls Isaiah for the important mission of sharing the love of God to the harvest that is ripe.
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” 4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. 5 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.” 8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
