Description

John 11:32-44

“Lazarus, come out!” Jesus commanded the dead man out of his tomb. Those who were weeping and mourning perhaps Jesus had gone mad, commanding a dead man to rise out of his grave.  But Jesus encouraged them to believe so the glory of God could be revealed.  Lazarus exited his tomb, grave clothes and all, and the glory of the Lord was seen.

Invocation

Pastor / Worship Leader

The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it.  The world and all people-we are the Lord’s.

Worshipers

   We belong to the Lord!

Pastor/ Worship Leader

Lift up your eyes to the lord- we belong to Him.

Worshipers

We will worship and we will praise the God who defeated death, for we are His beloved children.  Hallelujah!

Opening Prayer / Theme Introduction

Pastor / Worship Leader

Father in Heaven, who can stand in Your most holy place?  Without Christ our Lord, Your only Son, we cannot stand, for it is by His blood we are saved and accepted as Your children.  Lord, You are the King of glory, and You reign.  We bring you this day praise offerings.  We acknowledge You as the only True God, and we bow in humble submission to worship You now.

Worshipers

We worship the Lord, the King of Heaven and Earth.  Great is the Lord Almighty!  Amen.

Time of Confession and Forgiveness

[Alternate location:  following Message]

Pastor / Worship Leader

With heavy hearts, we fall at the feet of Jesus.  We are burdened with sin brought on by our own choices, actions, and behaviors.

Worshipers

We are not worthy to be in holy presence of the Lord God.

Pastor / Worship Leader

We turn our eyes upon Jesus now.  We are not worthy, but He is completely worthy and paid the ultimate sacrifice for our forgiveness.  Extend Your grace to us, Jesus, and forgive us of our sins.

Worshipers

Forgive us now, Lord Jesus, we ask, and we pray, and we seek Your face.  Help us to turn away from wickedness and pursue holiness.  In Your loving name we ask these things, amen.

…  We Hear God’s Word  …

[Read aloud both the introduction and Scripture]

First Reading                                                          Isaiah 25:6-9

The Lord would show His salvation and sovereignty and continue to prove Himself again and again.  He is trustworthy, and in Him we can rejoice.

On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine—the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; 8 he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. The Lord has spoken. In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”
