Description
Mark 3:20-35
Large crowds followed Jesus wherever He went. His family didn’t understand and couldn’t relate to what Jesus was doing. They thought that perhaps He was going crazy. They were not alone in this thought- even the respected teachers of the law thought that maybe Jesus was possessed. Jesus addressed the teachers using a parable, and then his family arrived. But Jesus asked, “Who are my mother and my brothers? Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.” Jesus understood the eternal implications of the Kingdom of God. Nothing on this earth will last, but our inheritance of Jesus Christ in glory will last forever.

Opening Prayer / Theme Introduction
Pastor / Worship Leader
Eternal Lord, we worship You. You are worth our time, our energy, and our devotion, for You love us more than we could ever think or imagine. We stand before You now and we wait for You. We put our hope in Your Word, our whole being desires to be in Your presence. Give us hearts set on eternity, and spiritual eyes to be open to the work You are doing. In Christ’s name we pray,

Amen.
Time of Confession and Forgiveness
[Alternate location: following Message]
Pastor / Worship Leader
Let us confess our sins to the Lord.
Worshipers
He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from unrighteousness through the sacrifice of the Son.
Pastor / Worship Leader
In His thorough forgiveness, the Lord keeps no records of our wrongdoings. He wipes our slates clean and calls us the righteousness of God.
Worshipers
Forgive us, Lord, for often we keep accounts to use against one another at a later time. We have been wrong- forgive us!
Pastor / Worship Leader
With God there is forgiveness. Praise the forgiving Father!
Worshipers
Hallelujah! Amen.
We Hear God’s Word

First Reading Genesis 3:8-15
Adam and Eve engaged in disobedience and sin made its first stain. When asked by God why they were naked, Adam blamed Eve who blamed the deceitful serpent. God cursed the serpent, knowing one day the enemy would be crushed by the cross of Jesus Christ.
8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” 10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.” 11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?” 12 The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.” 13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” 14 So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, “Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life. 15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”
