Description

Luke 13:22-30

Jesus is teaching throughout the land and responds to the question, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?” Jesus doesn’t necessarily answer the question directly. His response is that many will try to enter the owner’s house (the Kingdom of God) but will not be able to once the door has been closed. And the reason is that the owner did not know them, even though He had taught in their streets. They will be replaced at the feast in the Kingdom of God by people from the east, west, north and south.

Opening Prayer / Theme Introduction

Pastor / Worship Leader

Heavenly Father, we praise you and we thank you for your Son, Jesus Christ. We praise you and thank you Jesus for your sacrifice, your pain, your suffering on the cross. While we were yet sinners, you died for us. Jesus, you are the Way, the Truth and the Life. The only way to the Father is through you. Help us Lord to know You, to have relationship with You, to follow You, to bear our own cross for You. To live our lives for You. For You only. Help us Lord to enter through the narrow door and to stay on the narrow path. In Jesus Name, Amen!

Worshipers

   Amen!

Time of Confession and Forgiveness

[Alternate location:  following Message]

Pastor / Worship Leader

Heavenly Father, I confess that I have sinned against you. I have delighted my soul in other things more than I have in you.

Worshipers

In my arrogance, I have enjoyed the comforts of this world

Pastor / Worship Leader

In one moment, I believe that I’m invincible, able to withstand any problem or struggle. In the next moment, I believe that the evil all around me is out to get me.

Worshipers

O God, forgive me of my sin. Look on me with mercy, and give me grace to delight in you, rather than in my sin.

Pastor / Worship Leader

My mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression; under my tongue are mischief and iniquity.

Worshipers

Lift me out of this pit of sin, cleanse me of my unrighteousness, and fill me with your Holy Spirit so that I might walk in holiness and obey your commandments.

Pastor / Worship Leader

Open my lips Lord, and my mouth will declare your praise.

Worshipers

We are saved by the Grace of God! Thank you, Jesus! Amen!

First Reading                                  Isaiah 66:18-23

God, speaking through the Prophet Isaiah, states that people from all nations, and from all languages will be gathered together to see the Glory of God. And in the new heavens and the new earth, all mankind will bow down before the Lord.

“And I, because of what they have planned and done, am about to come and gather the people of all nations and languages, and they will come and see my glory. 19 “I will set a sign among them, and I will send some of those who survive to the nations—to Tarshish, to the Libyans and Lydians (famous as archers), to Tubal and Greece, and to the distant islands that have not heard of my fame or seen my glory. They will proclaim my glory among the nations. 20 And they will bring all your people, from all the nations to my holy mountain in Jerusalem as an offering to the Lord—on horses, in chariots and wagons, and on mules and camels,” says the Lord. “They will bring them, as the Israelites bring their grain offerings, to the temple of the Lord in ceremonially clean vessels. 21 And I will select some of them also to be priests and Levites,” says the Lord. 22 “As the new heavens and the new earth that I make will endure before me,” declares the Lord, “so will your name and descendants endure. 23 From one New Moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, all mankind will come and bow down before me,” says the Lord.
