John 1:1-18
This passage comes right out of the starting blocks as the gospel writer, John, sets the stage for the remainder of this book. The incarnation is the absolute reality which supports the truth of who God is. In a world that has all sorts of definitions, descriptions, and concepts of who God is, the incarnation gives us the perfect and clearest understanding. No person, church, institution, theologian, philosopher, historian, or scientific formula can explain fully who God is. It is the incarnation that has the last word since God came in all his fullness in Jesus Christ—a gift that is realized most completely through Christ’s death and resurrection.
