John 11:1-45
As we examine this familiar story, we can easily see that it is a story about death and life. We can find ourselves moving right away, without hesitation, to salvation, eternal life, and peace with God forever. When Jesus said to Martha, “I am the resurrection and the life,” it was perhaps the most beautiful and profound, of the “I am” sayings. The promise of the resurrection and eternal life is hard to beat yet “the life” points to the here and now. The abundant life we can have as a believer and follower of Christ now – lived out in service, worship, and love in this life gives us purpose. Through this life now, we can glorify the Lord and shine His light so that others will see.
