Matthew 16:13-20

Who do you say I am?” asked Jesus.  Simon Peter answered the Lord and said that He indeed was the Messiah, the Son of the living God.  This was revealed to Simon Peter through God, and by faith, Simon Peter professed this revelation. Jesus gave him the name “Peter” and declared the authority in which Peter would be invested.  We are given a new identity when we make the decision to acknowledge Jesus Christ as the Messiah and confess Him as our Risen Lord and Savior.  With our new identity comes the authority from Jesus to accomplish His work through us.
