It’s almost a throw-away line in the Gospel. Jesus came to be baptized and John the Baptist attempted to prevent Him. Jesus was intending to identify Himself with sinful mankind, fulfilling the Scriptures, and John thought he knew the right way. Don’t we do the same? God intends something in our lives and we think ours is the better way. God doesn’t always do what makes sense to us, and He calls not for understanding and agreement, but obedience.
