Description

(Luke 10:17-20)

The disciples were elated at the miraculous events they were witnessing as they proclaimed the name of Jesus.  But Jesus reminded them of the most important thing: that their names were written in heaven.  No matter what circumstances surround us, we must never lose focus on the greatest wonder of all- our eternal citizenship in Heaven.

Invocation

Pastor / Worship Leader

The Lord loves you.  He sings over you, covers you with His feathers, and commands His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.

Worshipers

Oh how the Father loves us!  May we understand the magnitude of His great love.

Opening Prayer / Theme Introduction

Pastor / Worship Leader

Father, You call us to worship You in Spirit and in Truth.  As we gather today in Your presence, You are with us.  Protect us, deliver us from trouble and evil.  We acknowledge Your great name.  We rest in Your shadow, Almighty God.  May You be pleased with our worship today.  In Jesus’ name,

Worshippers

   Amen.

Time of Confession and Forgiveness

[Alternate location:  following Message]

Pastor / Worship Leader

Father in Heaven, we are the targets of the devil, a real enemy.  He prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking to devour us.  Keep us from temptation, away from his snares.

Worshipers

Deliver us from the enemy, for we are too weak to live righteously on our own accord.

Pastor / Worship Leader

But You, Jesus, are the lion of Judah.  Your roar shakes the gates of hell.  The cross where You bore our sin and death defeated Satan and we are forgiven and free from the chains of sin!

Worshippers

We confess we are sinners saved by the grace of Jesus Christ alone.  We are forgiven and free indeed!

Pastor / Worship Leader

   Yes, and Amen!

First Reading                            Daniel 10:10-14, 12:1-3

As Daniel was fasting and praying, the Lord sent a messenger to finally share the vision of the future resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked.

10 A hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees. 11 He said, “Daniel, you who are highly esteemed, consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you, and stand up, for I have now been sent to you.” And when he said this to me, I stood up trembling. 12 Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. 13 But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia. 14 Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the future, for the vision concerns a time yet to come.” “At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered.Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.
