Description
Mark 6:30-44
After a busy day of teaching and traveling, the disciples traveled with Jesus to a solitary place to rest. However, a desperate crowd awaited them although it was late in the day. When it came time to eat, Jesus told his disciples to feed the crowd. With just two fish and five loaves of bread, the task of feeding thousands was impossible. So, Jesus prayed, and the food was multiplied to feed 5,000 with some leftover. Nothing is impossible with God. The hungry crowd was satisfied physically, but even more so spiritually. Look to the Lord alone to satisfy your hungry soul and provide for your every need.

Opening Prayer / Theme Introduction
Pastor / Worship Leader
Gracious Heavenly Father, we desire a world free of poverty, oppression, and disease. We yearn for a world that’s rid of violence and uproar. We pray for Your peace, for it is perfect and pure. We pray for Your will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. We ask You to be near us now, to walk in front of us and lead us. We answer Your call to have faith in You.
Worshipers
In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
Time of Confession and Forgiveness
[Alternate location: following Message]
Pastor / Worship Leader
We come to the throne of grace, confessing in our emptiness that we believe we will never have enough. We are worried about the future and making ends meet. We are fearful of sharing, lacking in generosity, and especially with cheer.
Worshipers
We are overwhelmed by the weight of this world, aching from the weight of heavy responsibilities on our shoulders. We are overwhelmed with stories of suffering people, violence, and rage. We lose our grip on security, and we forget about You. Forgive us, Lord, Jesus.
Pastor / Worship Leader
For You are all we need. Ever. Your grace is sufficient for us, your power is perfect in our weakness. You are our strong tower, our miracle worker, the One who multiplied the bread and fish, and we forget over and over again.
Worshipers
You generously offer us life, and that abundantly. We are desperate for You, Lord.
Pastor / Worshiper Leader
As we confess, fill us with the power that only comes from Your Holy Spirit. Fill us with Your grace, for You are all we need.
Worshipers
You are sufficient for us. Thank You, Lord, for Your kindness, goodness, and mercy. May we walk humbly with You. Amen.
We Hear God’s Word

First Reading Jeremiah 23:1-6
The shepherds were to care for the Lord’s flock, but instead they participated in evil. The Lord would send Jesus, The Great Shepherd, to sacrificially care for the flock like no shepherd had or could ever do.
“Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pasture!” declares the Lord. 2 Therefore this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to the shepherds who tend my people: “Because you have scattered my flock and driven them away and have not bestowed care on them, I will bestow punishment on you for the evil you have done,” declares the Lord. 3 “I myself will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them and will bring them back to their pasture, where they will be fruitful and increase in number. 4 I will place shepherds over them who will tend them, and they will no longer be afraid or terrified, nor will any be missing,” declares the Lord. 5 “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land. 6 In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior.
