Matthew 21:23-27
The claims of Jesus are challenging to all we understand. He speaks of love, and relationship and grace. He calls us to forgiveness that makes no sense. The chief priests and elders of the people wanted to know by what authority Jesus could make such radical claims. Essentially, they were saying to Jesus, Who do you think you are? But the real question is not who Jesus thinks He is, but who we think He is. If He is not the Son of God, His words have no authority. If He is the Son of God, His words are deepest Truth. The issue is not who says, but Who says.
