Matthew 10:21-33
If you are a follower of Jesus, be prepared for persecution. Jesus walked in ways contrary to the culture of His day, and was crucified. He was a threat to the religious establishment, and to the government, and He was eliminated. His love and grace called into question an entire way of life. As we follow Jesus, we move along ways different than those around us. We do not own the values of the world. We are people of the cross. We speak to another Way. And our lives are a threat to those who want to feel comfortable in this world. We can expect hostility. Jesus died. And we follow Him to a cross.
