Getting a new start refreshes us and gives us hope. We all know how it feels to experience defeat. It comes in many forms: failing a test, not being selected for a position or job, divorce, foreclosure, bankruptcy, firing, or even when your favorite team loses. Being able to have new beginnings in life is vital for our well-being and specifically our spiritual well-being. The Gospel lessen is about new beginnings. The baptism of Jesus is a preparation for the beginning of his ministry. In baptism, we are given a new beginning—a renewed and fresh life in Christ as we embrace the death and resurrection of Jesus. Each morning as we awake, we are reminded that our sins are washed away and we rise to new life in Christ. Each day is a new beginning!
