Description
Luke 12:32-40
A large crowd has gathered to listen to Jesus. Jesus speaks first to his disciples with both encouraging words and words of warning. He asks them to consider the things they are worried about- the basic things like food and clothing. He challenges them to consider if life is more than that. He challenges their faith. Who do they trust? What are they seeking? Where is their treasure? He then shifts and warns them that the Son of Man is returning. They will not know when. Are they ready?

Opening Prayer / Theme Introduction
Pastor / Worship Leader
Heavenly Father, by your grace you have saved us, through faith. You have told us not to worry about what we will eat or what we will wear, but to have faith. You’ve told us not to fear and you have promised us a kingdom. We are sojourners on this earth Lord. Heaven is our home. Lord, your word says that you will return and at an hour we will not expect, and we need to be ready. Help us Lord to anticipate your return, to anticipate our home, to be dressed and ready for service. To keep our hearts and minds on you! Thank you for the gift of faith! In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

First Reading Genesis 15:1-6
Abram (Abraham) had just rescued his nephew Lot in battle and the Lord appears to Abram in a vision. The Lord promises Abram that he will have a son of his own flesh and blood. Abram believed the Lord, and this was credited to him as righteousness.
After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.” 2 But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?” 3 And Abram said, “You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.”4 Then the word of the Lord came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.” 5 He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”6 Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.
