Description
Luke 21:25-36
Jesus, following his entry into Jerusalem, teaches in the temple in the days leading up to his death. One of these teachings speaks of the end times- and his return again. This time He comes with power and great glory. We are to recognize the signs Jesus speaks of, and ultimately, to watch and pray, to be ready. Redemption is drawing near, and all will stand before the Son of Man.

Opening Prayer / Theme Introduction
Pastor / Worship Leader
Righteous one, to you alone we lift our souls; in you alone, we place our trust; for you alone,
we wait all day long. For you are the God of our salvation, abounding in mercy and steadfast love.
Help us remain alert and watchful for the coming of your promised one—the one who comes with power and glory, the one drawing near to bring our salvation. Amen.
Worshipers
Amen!
Time of Confession and Forgiveness
[Alternate location: following Message]
Pastor / Worship Leader
Lord, we confess our iniquities; We are troubled by our sin.
Worshipers
Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit.
Pastor / Worship Leader
Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
Worshipers
We confess that we do not keep our eyes on you. We do not wait and watch for you. We confess that we may indeed be asleep when you return. We are not, as You said, on guard. We are not on alert.
Pastor / Worship Leader
We pray to you Lord and confess: You are the Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him.
Worshipers
We confess our sins; You are faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Pastor / Worship Leader
Lord do not forsake us; do not be far from us, our God. Come quickly to help us, our Lord and Savior.
Worshipers
Amen!

First Reading Jeremiah 33:14-16
The Prophet Jeremiah prophecies hope to those exiled in Babylon. The streets of Jerusalem will be filled with people again. The fortunes of the land will be restored as before. And in these passages, Jeremiah speaks of a righteous Branch of David- a prophecy of the Messiah- a promise fulfilled to Israel and Judah. Jerusalem will live in safety.
“‘The days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will fulfill the good promise I made to the people of Israel and Judah.15 “‘In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David’s line; he will do what is just and right in the land. 16 In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will live in safety. This is the name by which it will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior.’
