Description

Mark 16:1-8

On their way to anoint Jesus’ body in His tomb, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome were shocked to find a young man dressed in white sitting in the empty tomb instead of Jesus. He told them to not be alarmed, Jesus had risen, and to go tell His disciples that Jesus would meet them in Galilee. On this Resurrection Day, let us embrace the work of Christ in our lives and move from fear to faith, doubt to belief, and isolation to transforming the world around us through the Gospel Message. For Christ is risen, and this is a story worth sharing!

Opening Prayer / Theme Introduction

Pastor / Worship Leader

   Let us pray together.

Worshipers

Lord Jesus, our Risen Savior, we gather in Your triumphant presence and are mindful of the price You paid for our redemption and the victory You won over sin and death. We praise You and dedicate this time to You now. We celebrate together as Your body that You are our Messiah, risen, and coming again! Open our hearts and minds to receive the Word of the Lord, and renew our hope in You. In the precious and beautiful name of Jesus we pray, amen.

Time of Confession and Forgiveness

[Alternate location:  following Message]

Pastor / Worship Leader

Beloved, let us check our hearts. Are we humble? We need the grace and forgiveness of our Lord.

Worshipers

Merciful God, we confess that we have not always lived as though we serve a resurrected Savior. We have allowed fear to stop us from obeying You and doubt to take the throne of our minds. We have failed to live as Your new creation, redeemed by grace, and have not always reflected Your love in our relationship with others. Forgive us.

Pastor / Worship Leader

But thanks be to God- He offers us forgiveness through the death and resurrection of Jesus! Hear the Good News- we are forgiven by Jesus, wiped clean, and made new!

Worshipers

Thank You for the gift of Jesus Christ, who took it upon Himself to bear the weight of our sins and conquer death for us. Thank You for washing us clean with Your blood, Jesus. Help us to live as more than conquerors through You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

…  We Hear God’s Word  …

[Read aloud both the introduction and Scripture]

First Reading                                Isaiah 25:6-9

Isaiah painted a vision of a feast prepared by the Lord on His holy mountain. Death was swallowed up forever, tears were wiped away, and the people’s disgrace was removed.

On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine—the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; 8 he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. The Lord has spoken. In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”
