Description

John 3:1-17

There is a love that extends far greater than our understanding.  God gave up His only Son, Jesus, to save the world from sin and provide eternal life.  Through faith, we are born again.  This thought stumped even an astute Pharisee named Nicodemus.  “How can a man be born again?” he asked Jesus.  This second birth is not a physical one, but a spiritual one.  We are created new when we put our faith in Jesus as our Savior and our Lord.  Have you been born again?

Holy is the name of the Lord!

Worshipers

   Holy is His name.

Pastor/ Worship Leader

We set our hearts on the Maker of Heaven and of Earth.  We boast of His lovingkindness and His mercies that are new every morning.  We praise the Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior, who died for our sins out of selfless love, compassion, and obedience to Father God.  We sing praises to our King!

Worshipers

   Worthy is the Lord!

Opening Prayer / Theme Introduction

Pastor / Worship Leader

Lord Jesus, we ask that Your love would reach the hardest of hearts and break the rocky soil.  We pray that the seeds of Your Word would be planted and watered by You, oh Living Water.  We ask all those that feel like desert wanderers would experience You meeting them even in the dry and weary places of their hearts.  May we experience the blessing of knowing You, Jesus, right now where we are.

Worshipers

Come, Holy Spirit, come.  Your place is with us.  We welcome You as we worship today.  Amen.

Time of Confession and Forgiveness

[Alternate location:  following Message]

Pastor / Worship Leader

Though we will not perish, but have eternal life through Jesus Christ, we still sin.

Worshipers

We confess that we are sinners.  We need a forgiver!

Pastor / Worship Leader

   Jesus is our forgiver!

Worshipers

He was sent by Father God to save us, not condemn us.

Pastor / Worship Leader

  We have no shame anymore!

Worshipers

We are forgiven!  Yes, we are forgiven!

Pastor/ Worshipers

Now let us walk in alignment with the Holy Spirit in us.  Let us aim for righteous living, and pursue Jesus in all things.

Worshipers

Holy Spirit, Helper, help us.  We ask this in the name of Jesus, our Savior.  Amen.

[Read aloud both the introduction and Scripture]

First Reading                                  Genesis 12:1-4a

The Lord promised Abram blessing upon blessing.  He would be made into a great nation.  His name would be famous, and his blessing would multiply with others.

Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” So Abram went, as the Lord had told him, and Lot went with him.
