Ash Wednesday “Proof Positive” Luke 1:1
Today we enter a season in the church year that includes the most significant events in Christianity. And yet there are people – some are Christians, some even theologians – who do not believe Jesus was the Messiah and was resurrected from the dead. The resurrection of the Messiah is not just a component of our faith, it is the one essential truth on which Christianity is built. Your life depends on it – your eternal life – for if Jesus was not the Messiah and did not rise from the dead, then you and I are still dead in our trespasses and have no hope of eternal life. This is why God gave us evidence, in the form of prophecies and symbols, which serve as proof positive. Throughout this Lenten season we will follow the breadcrumb trail of prophecies that God set in place to lead us to the Messiah.

“Waiting for the Messiah” John 4:23-26
From the time the first sin entered the world, so came God’s promise of one who would eventually overcome sin. God used many people – prophets, kings, and even outcasts – over hundreds of years, at different times and in different places to reveal details about the credentials and characteristics of the coming Messiah – the Mashiach – the anointed one. Why? He wanted there to be no mistake. The evidence is clear – Jesus fulfilled every one of the Messianic prophecies, and yet there are still some who doubt. Today we begin to look at the Messianic Prophecies and how Jesus fulfilled them.
