Mark 1:14-20
Time is of the essence when it comes to certain situations in life, especially if they are life and death matters. When Jesus called the fishermen to shift gears and make a drastic change at that moment, it reveals clearly the urgency of the matter. Perhaps the four men had some knowledge of Jesus before the call. We do not need to dwell on that speculation. All we know is that these working men dropped their fishing nets on the spot and followed Jesus. This provides a clear understanding to us how urgent the call to discipleship was, and is today. Fishing for people by proclaiming the news of salvation is a life and death matter. It is urgent!
