Description
John 8:31-36
The Jews were having trouble understanding the freedom that can only be found in Jesus. The truth of the Gospel frees us from the bondage to sin. We are no longer considered slaves to sin when Jesus Christ, the begotten Son of God, sets us free. Through Jesus, we are accepted into the family of God forever.

Opening Prayer / Theme Introduction
Pastor / Worship Leader
Yes, hallelujah! Let us pray together. Father who grants us freedom through Jesus Christ, we couldn’t be happier to be granted this life to live for Your glory. But we know that we are not citizens of this earth- we are eternal citizens of Heaven. Help us to live according to Your will. May Your Kingdom come, and Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. It is in the name of Jesus Christ who sets us free we pray,
Worshipers
Amen.
Time of Confession and Forgiveness
[Alternate location: following Message]
Pastor / Worship Leader
Lord, Your word says that we are all sinners. We all have fallen short.
Worshipers
We have fallen short of Your glory, God.
Pastor / Worship Leader
We are also justified freely by Your grace through the redemption that came by Jesus Christ. What great news that You have forgiven us of our sin.
Worshipers
We confess that nothing that we could have done earned us that privilege. It’s because of Your great love for us that we can be declared forgiven.
Pastor / Worship Leader
Thank you, Jesus, for your atoning sacrifice that saved us and freed us from sin’s grasp. We love you, Lord. Amen.
Worshipers
Amen.
We Hear God’s Word
[Read aloud both the introduction and Scripture]
First Reading Jeremiah 31:31-34
The Lord promised to make a new covenant with the people of Israel. He would write His law on their hearts and be forgiven of their wickedness.
“The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. 32 It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them,” declares the Lord. 33 “This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 34 No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the Lord. “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”
