 Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30

We can certainly learn a great deal from children. They are so honest, transparent, to the point, simplistic, and yet profound in their expressions of faith in Jesus and understanding of God. We know how loving, giving, trusting and dependent they are which are all vital characteristics of a person who knows the Lord.  Many adults have a tendency to outgrow these traits since they become clouded by life as it gets more complex with age and “so-called’ maturity. Children are actually great theologians and often ask the question, “why?”  “Why” is an excellent theological question. Isn’t theology “faith seeking understanding” as the great theologian, St. Anselm, stated it?  It would do us all good to keep our child-like faith. Scripture tells us that we need to be “as a child” in faith to enter the kingdom of God. In our Gospel lesson for today, Jesus said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants.”
