Description

John 6:1-21

Imagine witnessing a miraculous feast where five loaves and two fish satisfy a multitude. In this passage, not only did Jesus miraculously feed the hungry crowd, but He also defied nature by walking on water showing His disciples that He was trustworthy and compassionate. Life will throw storms our way, but Jesus is the storm calmer, our provider, and miracle worker.

Lord, where are hearts have hardened, bring understanding. Till up the soil of our hearts so that we may receive from You.

Worshipers

Holy Spirit, do Your work in us to transform us.

Opening Prayer / Theme Introduction

Pastor / Worship Leader

Father, we may not understand the miraculous, but we know that You do miracles! We may not understand the “why” to the storms you allow in life, but we choose to trust You with the outcomes. Today, may we be a people of praise and worship, of gratitude and joy, and of trust and obedience. We want to experience Your fullness, Your grace, Your truth, Your joy. We invite You here and now to move and work in our hearts.

Worshipers

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Time of Confession and Forgiveness

[Alternate location:  following Message]

Pastor / Worship Leader

We stop and confess before moving on. Cleanse our hearts, Lord.

Worshipers

We have much to confess, and You ask us to do it, Lord. We confess that we have hardened hearts due to wanting to control situations and circumstances. We confess that we operate out of our own abilities rather than trusting You to lead. We confess that we can be prideful, stubborn, and out of control. Forgive us, Lord, Jesus.

Pastor / Worship Leader

We are forgiven by the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ that was accomplished on the cross at Calvary. His blood covered our past, present, and future sins. We accept the forgiveness of Christ, and we offer the same forgiveness to others freely since we were given forgiveness freely. Now, Lord, help us to walk with You in righteousness, to shun evil, and to be strengthened in the name of Jesus.

Worshipers

  Amen.

…  We Hear God’s Word  …

[Read aloud both the introduction and Scripture]

First Reading                             2 Kings 4:42-44

Elisha miraculously multiplies twenty loaves of barley and some ears of grain to feed a hundred people. Through this miracle, Elisha illustrated the principle of trusting in God’s provision beyond what we can see or understand.

A man came from Baal Shalishah, bringing the man of God twenty loaves of barley bread baked from the first ripe grain, along with some heads of new grain. “Give it to the people to eat,” Elisha said.43 “How can I set this before a hundred men?” his servant asked. But Elisha answered, “Give it to the people to eat. For this is what the Lord says: ‘They will eat and have some left over.’” 44 Then he set it before them, and they ate and had some left over, according to the word of the Lord.
