Description

John 2:1-11

Jesus’s first miracle was turning water into wine, revealing His glory and causing disciples to believe in Him.  This new wine miracle spurred on a series of miracles to follow causing the religious leaders to become critical, but empowering disciples to be equipped for their task of carrying the torch of the Gospel to the world.  Today we ask the Lord to fill us with the miracle of new wine as we are broken vessels waiting for the Holy Spirit to fill us and empower us to carry the light of the Gospel into the dark places that so desperately need Jesus.

…  We Hear God’s Word  …

[Read aloud both the introduction and Scripture]

First Reading                                  Isaiah 62:1-5

The Lord spoke life-giving words over His people who were once desolate.  He calls them a crown of splendor in His hand, a royal diadem, and He rejoices over them as a groom rejoices over his new bride.  What an amazing picture of the Lord’s strong love for us!

For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet, till her vindication shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch. The nations will see your vindication, and all kings your glory; you will be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will bestow. You will be a crown of splendor in the Lord’s hand, a royal diadem in the hand of your God. No longer will they call you Deserted, or name your land Desolate. But you will be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; for the Lord will take delight in you, and your land will be married. As a young man marries a young woman, so will your Builder marry you; as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you.
