Description

John 18:33-37

Pilate questioned Jesus about His kingship, “Are you the king of the Jews?”  Pilate wanted a concrete answer, yet wasn’t willing to take Jesus’ word as truth.  He was more concerned with trapping Jesus in His words than hearing and believing the truth.  When discussing God matters with the Pilates of this world, stand firm in the truth found in Scripture and know that it is God who changes the heart.  Rely on the Holy Spirit to guide your words, thoughts, actions, and expressions so that He can do the work and receive all the glory.

Invocation

Pastor / Worship Leader

Good morning/afternoon/evening, and welcome to this building.  This building is not the Church, the people of God make up the Church.  Before we enter into worship, let’s take a moment to close our eyes.  Picture the Lord who reigns.  He is robed in majesty and His clothes are as white as snow.  He is armed with strength and His hair is white as wool.  His throne is flaming, and He is called the Ancient of Days.  This is our God.  This is who invites us into His throne room through the blood passageway of Jesus Christ, His Son.  This is who is to be feared, yet knows the number of hairs on our heads.  He loves us, and He calls us to worship Him alone.  So, let’s worship the Great I Am.

Opening Prayer / Theme Introduction

Pastor / Worship Leader

Mighty God, we enter Your throne room fully aware that we only belong because of Christ.  In reverence, we enter with thanksgiving, now into Your throne room, and we worship You alone.

Worshipers

We worship the Lord God Almighty who was and is and is to come!

Time of Confession and Forgiveness

[Alternate location:  following Message]

Pastor / Worship Leader

We approach Your throne, Lord, with confidence and with repentant hearts.

Worshipers

You alone are worthy of our devotion, and we need You to make things right.  For we are sinners in desperate need of saving.

Pastor / Worship Leader

Save us by the blood of the Lamb.  Forgive us our sins and help us to extend forgiveness freely to others who have harmed us, attacked us, and who don’t deserve our forgiveness.

Worshipers

We forgive others because we have freely been forgiven.  We honor the Lord Jesus Christ by forgiving as He forgives us.

Pastor / Worship Leader

   In Jesus’ name we ask,

Worshipers

Amen.

First Reading                                  Daniel 7:9-10, 13-14

Daniel saw a vivid vision of Jesus approaching the Ancient of Days, who gave Him authority, glory, and sovereign power over all nations.  In every language, people worshiped Jesus and His kingdom would be everlasting.

“As I looked, “thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took his seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of his head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze. 10 A river of fire was flowing, coming out from before him. Thousands upon thousands attended him; ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him. The court was seated, and the books were opened.

13 “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. 14 He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed
