Description

Mark 6:45-56

Amidst the raging waves and howling winds, Jesus defied the laws of nature, walking on water toward His disciples’ distressed boat. He calmed the storm with a mere word, and they were amazed. After this miraculous encounter with Jesus, they traveled to villages, towns, and countryside where people were healed by a simple touch. This passage reminds us to trust in Jesus even in the midst of life’s most tumultuous moments, for He can do anything!

Opening Prayer / Theme Introduction

Pastor / Worship Leader

Father, we may not understand the miraculous, but we know that You do miracles! We may not understand the “why” to the storms you allow in life, but we choose to trust You with the outcomes. Today, may we be a people of praise and worship, of gratitude and joy, and of trust and obedience. We want to experience Your fullness, Your grace, Your truth, Your joy. We invite You here and now to move and work in our hearts.

Worshipers

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Time of Confession and Forgiveness

[Alternate location:  following Message]

Pastor / Worship Leader

We stop and confess before moving on. Cleanse our hearts, Lord.

Worshipers

We have much to confess, and You ask us to do it, Lord. We confess that we have hardened hearts due to wanting to control situations and circumstances. We confess that we operate out of our own abilities rather than trusting You to lead. We confess that we can be prideful, stubborn, and out of control. Forgive us, Lord, Jesus.

Pastor / Worship Leader

We are forgiven by the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ that was accomplished on the cross at Calvary. His blood covered our past, present, and future sins. We accept the forgiveness of Christ, and we offer the same forgiveness to others freely since we were given forgiveness freely. Now, Lord, help us to walk with You in righteousness, to shun evil, and to be strengthened in the name of Jesus.

Worshipers

  Amen.

…  We Hear God’s Word  …

[Read aloud both the introduction and Scripture]

First Reading                             Genesis 9:8-17

God established a covenant with Noah and all living creatures, promising never again to destroy the earth with a flood. He set the rainbow as a sign of His covenant.

Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: “I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you 10 and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth. 11 I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.” 12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.” 17 So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.”
