Description
Mark 1:14-20
Jesus continued John the Baptist’s message of the Good News of God when John was thrown into prison. He urged people to repent and believe and called fishermen Simon, Andrew, James, and John to follow Him. When Jesus interrupts our daily rhythms, as He often will, we have a choice to immediately follow our Savior or ignore Him. It is Christ alone, in His selfless death and miraculous resurrection, who gives us the opportunity of a lifetime- to follow Him into eternal life.

Opening Prayer / Theme Introduction
Pastor / Worship Leader
So Lord Jesus, we follow You into the unknown. We put our trust in You where our souls find rest and peace. We will be like the disciples who left their occupations to answer Your calling to follow You. We won’t turn back and reminisce on our old lives; we will look ahead to the eternal life that awaits us!
Worshipers
The eternal hope of glory!
Pastor / Worship Leader
In the name of Jesus…
Worshipers
Amen.
Time of Confession and Forgiveness
[Alternate location: following Message]
Pastor / Worship Leader
Jesus, we pour out our hearts to You.
Worshipers
You ask us to trust You, but we often times we don’t. We trust in money, riches, and wealth. We trust in people and in positions. We trust in future plans and stability.
Pastor / Worship Leader
But You say to trust You at all times for You are our refuge. You say that our plans will fail, but Yours will hold firm to the end. You are mighty to save; we cannot save ourselves.
Worshipers
Forgive us, Lord, we confess of our sins.
Pastor / Worship Leader
Our hope comes from You, our fortress. We will not be shaken. Show us Your ways, Your paths, and guide us into Your truth. We accept Your forgiveness and love, Jesus. Help us to follow You.
Worshipers
In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
We Hear God’s Word

First Reading Jonah 3:1-5, 10
After spending time in the belly of the whale, Jonah obeyed and spread God’s message to Nineveh. The Ninevites believed God and turned from their sin, and God relented.
1 Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time: 2 “Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you.”3 Jonah obeyed the word of the Lord and went to Nineveh. Now Nineveh was a very large city; it took three days to go through it. 4 Jonah began by going a day’s journey into the city, proclaiming, “Forty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown.” 5 The Ninevites believed God. A fast was proclaimed, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth. 10 When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not bring on them the destruction he had threatened.
