Description
Luke 24:1-12
After the Lord’s death, some women headed to the tomb expecting to find the body of Jesus. To their shock, the Lord was not there! Two angels proclaimed, “He is risen!” and reminded the women of Jesus’ own words. Remembering, the women shared the Good News with the eleven disciples who did not believe, except Peter. Peter ran to the tomb, found only strips of linen, and left in wonder. As we celebrate Easter Sunday, let us be like Peter running to see the miracle of the Lord. Let us be in wonder of His awesome plan to create new life through Christ’s death and resurrection.

Opening Prayer / Theme Introduction
Pastor/Worship Leader speaks
Pastor Risen Lord, you have saved us! We were wretched souls, lost and sinful, and You gave
Your life for us so that we may live eternally with You. We are alive in Christ, and we will
proclaim His name forever and ever. We bless You, Lord, with our lips. We offer a
sacrifice of praise before Your altar. We are Your people, and we are blessed.
ALL Yes, and amen!
Time of Confession and Forgiveness
[Alternate location: following Message]
Pastor Father, we cannot go on sinning because we know the truth. Yet, we are human and we
struggle with the temptation of our sinful nature. We carry out our sinful desires and
forget to follow You.
ALL Forgive us, Lord.
Pastor As we celebrate Easter today, we remember Your powerful resurrection that shattered
the chains of sin and freed the captives. Out of fear, some of us may have continued to
be enslaved in captivity, but in the name of Jesus, we say, “No more!”
ALL No more!
Pastor We are no longer slaves to sin. We are free indeed through the saving blood of Jesus
Christ!
ALL Cleanse us from sin. We repent and turn from our wicked ways.
Pastor We are cleansed by Your blood. Thank you, Jesus.
ALL Thank you, Jesus. Amen.
We Hear God’s Word
[Read aloud both the introduction and Scripture]
First Reading Isaiah 65:17-25
God will create new heavens and a new earth where weeping and crying will no longer be. People will be blessed by the Lord and will enjoy the work of their hands.
“See, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind. 18 But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy. 19 I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people; the sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more. 20 “Never again will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his years; the one who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere child; the one who fails to reach a hundred will be considered accursed. 21 They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. 22 No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, my chosen ones will long enjoy the work of their hands. 23 They will not labor in vain, nor will they bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the Lord, they and their descendants with them. 24 Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear. 25 The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, and dust will be the serpent’s food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain,” says the Lord.
