Series Theme          “Genuine Christianity”

“Organic” is a big buzzword these days.  It seems everyone is talking about food with no artificial additives or fillers.  More and more labels are claiming their product as 100% pure and organic.  Could Christianity make the same claim?  This 5-week series looks at some basic elements of our faith as recorded in the Gospel of Mark.  See for yourself if Christianity’s message has changed, or if we’re still proclaiming the genuine message of Christ.

This Week’s Theme           “Perfect Healing” Mark 6:45-56

Jesus and his disciples healed many people during their earthly ministry. Is today’s church continuing to bring healing to a hurting world?  Jesus and his disciples healed people in many ways – physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and eternally!  Jesus continues to offer perfect healing.

Invocation and Introduction of Today’s Theme

Pastor              Are we being Jesus’ hands and feet to those around us?  There is so much need for lives being touched and miraculously healed in so many ways these days; as the Lord                           leads us, we need to be fervent in our efforts to reach out and touch someone with the love of Jesus everyday…beginning today!

All                   Let’s be Jesus to others!  Amen!

Prayer Opening

Pastor              We believe in miracles!  We believe You can and You do, Lord.  Help our unbelief, Oh Father.  When we cannot see Your hand, help us trust Your heart.  We know You                              are alive and well and that You want us to be You with skin on, to a lost and hurting world.  This day, we invite You to inhabit the praises of Your people and inhabit our                            lives each waking moment.

All                   Instill in us a burning desire to worship You in spirit and in truth, bringing all the glory due Your precious holy Name.  It is in that saving Name                          that we pray.  Amen!

Time of Greeting

All                   Instill in us a burning desire to worship You in spirit and in truth, bringing all the glory due Your precious holy Name.  It is in that saving Name                          that we pray.  Amen!

Time of Confession and Forgiveness

[Alternate location:  following Message]

Pastor               O Heavenly Father, Create in us clean hearts. . .and renew a right spirit within us.

All                    Cast me not away from Your presence, O God; and take not Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of Your salvation, and renew a                                right spirit within me

Pastor               [silent pause.]  As surely as He has heard to request of your heart, He answers that request.   Be assured that God is faithful and quick to forgive the sins of the                                             sorrowful sinner.  Put on the crown of joy as a forgiven saint.  You are free from the bondage of sin

All                    Liberated and free in Jesus Name.  Alleluia!

… We Hear God’s Word …

[Read aloud both the introduction and Scripture]

First Reading          Genesis 9:8-17

In this introduction of God’s covenant with Noah, we see a compassionate God who is also righteous – a God who brings beauty and promise out of sin and death –

the ultimate healing.

Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: “I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you 10 and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth. 11 I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth. ” 12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.” 17 So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.”
