Description
John 8:31-36
Disciples of Jesus aren’t mediocre, half-committed, wandering people. Disciples of Jesus know the truth that sets them free from slaves of sin, and they don’t want to return to that bondage. Reformation is embraced when it comes to living a life of freedom in Christ and being a permanent and eternal member of the Kingdom family of God. Have you tasted the freedom found in the blood-bought salvation of Jesus Christ? What’s holding you back from fully embracing the lifestyle of discipleship?

Opening Prayer / Theme Introduction
Pastor / Worship Leader
Faithful God, we offer up thanksgiving for Your abundant blessings. We thank You for the fathers and mothers in the faith who took tremendous risks to carry Your truth to the generations after them. We thank You for Your covenant promise to us that we may abide in You and have relationship with You. Give us the courage to boldly speak out Your love, truth, mercy, grace, and hope to this world as we follow You as Christ’s disciples.
Worshipers
In the holy and revered name of Jesus we pray, amen.
Time of Confession and Forgiveness
[Alternate location: following Message]
Pastor / Worship Leader
As we enter in a time of confession to the Lord, let us put aside anything that hinders us from transparency. As we repent, let us remember that all have sinned and have fallen short of God’s glory.
Worshipers
God, You are our refuge and our strength, a very present help in times of trouble. We are troubled by the sin that weighs us down. Forgive our iniquities and remember our sin no more. Help us use the freedom that You’ve granted us to glorify You and no one else, including ourselves. Forgive us, Lord, for the sins you already know and reveal the hidden sins by Your light.
Pastor / Worship Leader
You give us the gift of grace, the atonement in the blood of Jesus Christ, and we receive Your forgiveness now. Thank You, Jesus.
Worshipers
Amen.
We Hear God’s Word
[Read aloud both the introduction and Scripture]
First Reading Revelation 14:6-7
In John’s vision, he saw an angel holding the eternal gospel to proclaim to the earth. In a loud voice, the angel commanded the people to fear God and give Him glory.
Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth—to every nation, tribe, language and people. 7 He said in a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.”
