Description

John 16:12-15

Jesus knew that He would not be with His disciples for much longer, but that the Spirit of Truth would soon follow guiding them in truth.  The Spirit is one with the Father and the Son and they operate together in perfect unity.  The Spirit speaks, and we should listen and obey.

Opening Prayer / Theme Introduction

   Pastor/Worship Leader speaks

Pastor              Holy Father in Heaven, we enter Your Kingdom through Your Son, Jesus Christ, who is

the only way, truth, and the life.  We listen to the Advocate, Your Holy Spirit of Truth to

lead the charge and guide us into all righteousness.  We worship you in spirit and in truth

today as we gather in the name of…

ALL                The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Time of Confession and Forgiveness

[Alternate location:  following Message]

Pastor               We have been blessed with the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, our Savior.

ALL                  Through Christ, we have been adopted into the Kingdom of God as sons and

daughters.  We are no longer orphans or strangers to God.

Pastor               So freely we confess our sins to the Lord God Almighty with the help of the Holy Spirit.

ALL                  He is the Spirit of truth.

Pastor               And by the shed blood of Jesus, we have been granted forgiveness, a clean slate, and

                        hearts as white as snow.

ALL                  We are humbled and grateful for the freedom, forgiveness, and life we find in

                        in Christ alone.  Amen.

[Read aloud both the introduction and Scripture]

First Reading                                  Proverbs 8:1-4, 22-31

Perfect wisdom comes from God and those who listen to wisdom glorify God.

Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice? At the highest point along the way,
where the paths meet, she takes her stand; beside the gate leading into the city, at the entrance, she cries aloud: “To you, O people, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind. “The Lord brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old;

23 I was formed long ages ago, at the very beginning, when the world came to be. 24 When there were no watery depths, I was given birth, when there were no springs overflowing with water; 25 before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was given birth, 26 before he made the world or its fields
or any of the dust of the earth. 27 I was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep, 28 when he established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep, 29 when he gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep his command, and when he marked out the foundations of the earth. 30 Then I was constantly at his side. I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence, 31 rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind.
